Founded in the late 18th Century and incorporated in 1907, the New Haven County Bar Association is a not-for-profit professional organization of nearly 1,300 New Haven area judges, attorneys, paralegals, law students and other legal professionals that provides educational, social and other services to its members. The Bar Association supports its members in many ways, including continuing legal education programs, new attorney mentoring opportunities, encouraging professionalism, offering several committees, annual social events, publishing a newsletter, and fostering relationships between its members and the courts. For the community, we sponsor the New Haven County Lawyer Referral Service and a variety of Law Day activities.
Attorney John Parese of New Haven-based Buckley Wynne & Parese has recently agreed to chair the Member Benefits Committee. Originally joining the association in 2001, Parese has served the NHCBA faithfully for two decades. In 2015, John was elected President of the New Haven County Bar Association and served his term with great honor. His driving force has been to give back to the New Haven community and the public through service.
John has also been recognized for his abilities and dedication to the profession by a host of organizations including Connecticut Super Lawyers, the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40, New England Outstanding Young Lawyers, Connecticut Magazine, Top Attorneys in Connecticut, and others. He holds an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating available, for his peer-ranked level of professional excellence. For over a decade John has served as General Counsel to the Auto Body Association of Connecticut.
The hope is that through collegiality and education - we, as lawyers, better serve the community and our clients.
